Frequently Asked Questions

Find a therapist near me

- You no longer are limited to finding a therapist that lives in your neighborhood.  Telehealth has given us the opportunity to reach a counselor that may or may not be local.

How do I know what good treatment looks like?

- Evidence informed treatment modalities are an important first step to know whether or not a psychotherapist is qualified to offer excellent care.  Beyond that, the therapeutic relationship is noted in research as the number one factor that determines favorable outcomes.

How long is treatment?

- Outpatient treatment can usually last about 6-12 months to see lasting results.

- Residential treatment can last 30-90 days, followed by aftercare planning.  In some cases, residential care can last a year or longer depending on the needs of the individual.

Do you work with couples or families?

- Yes, we serve families.  Finding a marriage counselor or family counselor that can work with your family and its unique needs may take some time to find.  We encourage you to do the work necessary to find a good fit for you.

Do you work with people with substance use disorders?

- Yes, we have specialized training to be able to offer addiction treatment.  Again, finding someone with the expertise and the right relationship is important when seeking a drug and alcohol counselor.

How do I know when to intervene or get help?

Do you offer interventions?

- Yes, but this service is nothing like what you have seen on TV where you surprise the person who is struggling and attempt to get them to go to rehab.  This often feels like an attack and can build resentment.  BFS chooses an invitational model to enhance motivation and heal the family system.

How do I know if/when to do an intervention?

- There are many factors to consider such as health, welfare and safety.  You may call us for a free 30 minute consultation to answer your questions and allow us to assess your family's situation.

What makes an intervention with BFS different?

- Most providers offer an intervention as an "event" only service, leaving families to fend for themselves with aftercare planning and to navigate the treatment and recovery community without professional guidance.  We offer continuing care coordination for at least 6 months.  We have licensed clinicians trained in evidence based treatment models to treat substance abuse and mental health.

Is the goal of an intervention to get someone to go to inpatient residential care?

-No.    Residential care may be needed, and it may be important for the family to encourage and motivate the struggling loved one to go into a treatment center.  However, it is possible to find recovery in an outpatient setting.  This will be discussed and considered along the way to develop an individualized plan.

Fees and Insurance

Therapy Services

All fees are due in full at time of service with some exception.  When going through insurance, in which the copay and deductible are collected.

Fees depend on numerous factors including copays and deductibles.

Generally speaking, therapy can last for up to 6 months with regular sessions.  Treatment plans will determine how often we meet, whether that is weekly or monthly.

I am paneled with several insurance carriers.
